THE COPPELIA PROJECT: A Clown Ballet in Three Acts
By Heidi Van+ Mindgames: a video installation by Susan Whitela

Esquina / 1000 W 25th

Tonight! February 23rd at 8pm

The Coppelia Project is a non verbal "clown ballet" created and directed by Kansas City based writer, director and performer Heidi Van. Based (loosely) on the ballet Coppelia, which is (even more loosely) based on a story by German Romantic writer ETA Hoffman called "The Sandman" ("Der Sandman"), The Coppelia Project debuted at the Kansas City Fringe Festival to rave reviews in the summer of 2008. It returns, in a new incarnation adapted specifically for la Esquina, including a site-specific video installation by Kansas City visual artist Susan White. In addition, this run at la Esquina features the premiere of a new, related work in progress, also conceived and directed by Heidi Van. The Coppelia Project features a revolving cast, including Talent Unlimited actor Ric Averill.

No Way to Treat a Lady

Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre presents ...
No Way to Treat a Lady
By Douglas Cohen
Directed by John Staniunas

A Musical Thriller!

Based on the novel by William Goldman (The Princess Bride, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) and adapted as a movie of the same name, this hilarious, sexy musical gives new meaning to "knock 'em dead."

A serial killer is on the loose, and Detective Morris Brummell is on the case. Can he find the killer, get the girl, and appease his disappointed mother -- all before the next chorus? It's a game of cat and mouse -- a tour de force with 4 actors playing 17 roles -- and a murderously fun time!

Featuring Talent Unlimited actors:
Jeanne Averill, Jon Daugharthy and Michael Dragen
