Casting Call

Are you curious and passionate and knowledgeable about design, architecture or decorating? Are you a guy in his 30’s or 40’s who’s driven to explore the coolest and most over-the-top rooms in the country? If you are then we’re looking for you. Lusid Media is casting a host for an exciting new HGTV program focused on wild, over-the-top design, crazy rooms and incredible spaces. If you’ve got a strong point of view about design and are great on camera then see below for details on how to submit a demo reel for consideration.
The goal of this brief demo is to reveal three things about yourself:

1. Your personal passion and curiosity about unique home design – including décor, architecture and furniture and etc.

2. Your ability to communicate your curiosity and passion by experiencing and interpreting the spaces and objects themselves. This means walking through a room, picking out and describing unique details and objects. Show us, the audience, what it is that is really exciting. Why is this stuff cool?

3. Your ability to be natural and great on TV – to engage and interact with homeowners and designers – and the camera.

There are several examples of what we are looking for already on television. Guy Fieri dives into new food experiences with energy and enthusiasm that draws an audience in. Others who exhibit this curiosity, energy and expertise are: Ty Pennington, Jim Cramer, Anthony Bourdain, Bear Grylls, Andrew Zimmer, The boys from Mythbusters, Mike Rowe, and the guys from Top Gear.
Remember passion doesn’t mean hyper and curious doesn’t mean mugging. We want to see the real you. We want you to have fun – but not make fun. Please see demo submission details below.

We’d like to see the following two scenes in your demo (and keep it under 4 minutes).

1. Interview portion - please talk straight to camera:

a. Tell us about your background, your age, and where you are from.

b. Why are you passionate about design? What do you have to offer?

c. Why were you first interested in architecture and design? What keeps you fascinated?

d. Why do you want to share your passion? How can you share your passion?

2. Action portion - we’d like to see you in action as a host. Here are some sample scenarios that will show off your ability to translate passion to the audience:

a. Explore a space with someone who lives there and choose a detail to talk about.

b. Introduce a new element to someone’s space and tell us about why it should be there.

c. Have someone introduce a unique piece or feature in their room and experience it with them.

Shooting Guidelines:

· Try to shoot in a bright and quiet place. We want to see and hear everything you have to offer.

· Have someone help you out with the camera - we want you to have fun and be yourself, so involve someone that helps you do this.

Submission Instructions:

Must submit a link to a website where the video can be streamed (examples: YouTube.com or vimeo.com) or send a link that can be downloaded.

Deadline:

Please have your demo submitted no later than June 20th, 2011.
